The counters are in - just a bit of glass to goo in and some drawers for underneath to install.
Have made some enquiries about some carpet and we are just waiting for a new sample to come in.
Sent of emails to the wholesalers re: some stock - ammo etc and still... waiting to hear back from the majority of them.
Things are slowly coming together !
Most of the painting is done - one wall to finish - can't wait to t=get the woodheater in cos it's

At last a weekend fine enough to work outside !
Barry and I finally got the southern wall clad with Cedar and we are really pleased with the results.
Only one wall left inside to paint - have to wait for the plasterer to sort out the opening where the sliding glass door used to be and I can get that painted too.  Barry has put the architraves around the windows and completed one side of the shops skirtings.  It's all starting to come together at last.
Our signs have been completed and we should be able to pick them up this week - can't wait to see what they look like ?  The counters and display cupboards are in and the tops are just waiting for one more coat of spray.  We are getting there !!

Well Winter is here !!  Oh boy it was chilly this weekend.  So amazing to see so much water laying in the bush in the Midlands,  mud mud everywhere..  Luckily the river wasn't too high and we could get across, even if I did get stuck half way and had to rock myself out !  Didn't fire a shot but saw lots of Forresters and wallaby -  of course enought Possum to make a fortune in fur coats and Rum had a run on the quail, of course we didn't shoot any because it's out of season.  Probably would have missed anyway ! 

Here is the river - this year 2012 there has been a fair amount of water flowing - due to some pretty good rainfall higher up in the catchments so in this photo it was pretty full.

Unfortunately I missed the photos of the guys stuck in the middle on a large rock, due to being in fits of laughter watching as they rocked back and forwards nearly going head first into the water. 

This was one trip I didn't bother going across the river, I played it safe on the camp side of the river.  We are off again this weekend so I will take some more photos and hopefully manage to actually take some if it happens again.

Beautiful country, enjoying quite a bit more rain than it has in the past.

Barry has enjoyed shooting on this property since he was a lad (just a little while ago)  and knows the property like the back of his hand.  That would be the one with all the fingers on it, that's another story !! 

He hunts, I was going to say shoots but that doesn't always happen, fallow deer, during the deer seasons, at the moment we have a seperate stag and doe season.  Wallaby, there are two different types in Tasmania, the Rufus and the Bennetts, rabbit, hare and quail during the quail season.

This is us on the bike,  Just puttering along, Barry is driving so we are going slower than if I was, I am a bit of a speed freak.  Well not really, Barry just likes to putter. We have pretty much everything we need with us for a day out - cold drinks, snacks, first aid kit and Barry's homemade survival kit.  Of course the most important thing is TOILET PAPER, which you will find in the bike box and in just about every pocket of our clothing !

This is RUM, he is a 1 year old English Pointer we bought from South Australia and he is our quail dog.

Rum had just run about 22 kilometres with us on the quad bikes through the bush - with stops - which is why he is actually sitting still long enough for us to take a photo.

He is a wonderful addition to the family, although his chewing is kind of driving me a little bit crazy !!

I suppose we should introduce ourselves - The Hunting Shed is owned by Susan and Barry, we are native Tasmanians, both born and bred on the North West coast.
We share a passion not only for each other but for hunting, camping, shooting, fishing and family.
Barry has been hunting and fishing since his early teens and continues to enjoy just being in the bush.  Susan only found fishing and hunting when she met Barry about 20 years ago so she is a relative newcomer.
We are parents to a mixed family of 5 children and Gran and Pop to 6 wonderful grandchildren.  Who are just becoming old enough to start accompanying us on our camping trips.
